New Horizon Institute

About the Journal

The Journal exists because restless souls need steady words.

Every essay here is written by Dr. Derrick Love, founder of the New Horizon Institute and a voice committed to helping people grow in faith, lead with integrity, and become more like Jesus.

These are not sermon manuscripts or leadership manuals dressed up as blog posts. They are slower, more personal reflections from the road. The kind of notes you might write to a friend who is asking honest questions about God, work, and what it means to live a purposeful life.

Some weeks the focus is on a passage of Scripture and what it demands of us. Other weeks it is about the inner terrain of leadership — the courage it takes to serve others while staying close to the One who called you. Always, the aim is the same: to slow the reader down long enough for truth to do its work.

About Dr. Derrick Love

Dr. Derrick Love is an educator, nonprofit leader, and devotional writer who has spent his career equipping individuals and organizations to lead with purpose. Through the New Horizon Institute, he has trained leaders, built community programs, and written extensively on what it means to lead from a place of faith rather than ambition.

His writing has always been a side door into the same mission: helping people see that their work and their worship are not separate compartments. They are one life, offered to one Lord, lived one day at a time.

The Journal is his weekly letter to anyone who will read it. No algorithms. No clickbait. Just words worth your time.
